Lungshan Temple – Legend of Lungshan

There is an ancient and blessed temple in Taipei.

This ancient temple was built in 1738.

Its name is Lungshan Temple.

It’s also called “Longshan Temple“. There are total 5 temples called “Lungshan Temple” in Taiwan and this temple we are talking about is located in Wanhua District(a.k.a. Manka or Banka) in Taipei City.

There is a legend about Lungshan Temple that occurred during World War II.
( Taiwan was ruled by Japan during World War II, so the United States offen sent bombers to attack cities in Taiwan. )

One day in 1945…

Many buildings had been destroyed and the Lungshan Temple was no exception.

The day(on 8 June, 1945), Lungshan Temple was unfortunately bombed. The whole main hall was burned out but the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva in the center of the main hall survived intact. This is the most famous story of Lungshan Temple.

This miracle has been attracting people to visit the Guanyin Bodhisattva and pray for blessing. (See more Lungshan Temple and Guanyin Bodhisattva)

They believe that their prayers to the Guanyin Bodhisattva would be answered.
